    NROTC - MO

As a parent of a child who was awarded a NROTC-MO scholarship in December 2022, I would disagree with the comment that the PFT does not impact the selection process that much. These scholarships are difficult to obtain based on the number offered each year. Every component of the application is...

Post-Appointment Class of 2027 Hangout: PTR, I-Day, What To Bring, Leave Periods…all that endless new stuff

The PTR instructions indicate mids need to have a social security card. We already uploaded it on the USNA website. Will a color copy front and back be acceptable on IDay or do they have to bring their card?

Post-Appointment Class of 2027 Hangout: PTR, I-Day, What To Bring, Leave Periods…all that endless new stuff

Have your DS and DD check their PTR. There is a test required after Jan 1 of this year for tuberculosis. Looks like two options, one requires two Dr visits and the other is a blood test. They are asking for this info by 5/15 so sooner than later is better.

I received one for the CVW later this week.

Post-Appointment Class of 2027 Hangout: PTR, I-Day, What To Bring, Leave Periods…all that endless new stuff

That’s crazy. I would contact your MOC who gave you a nomination and I’m sure they would be more than willing to make a few calls to get you in soon. I know it’s a state issue and not a federal one.

    NROTC summer commitments?

Go to the website below for info. There are three different date options to attend. Each iteration is 3 weeks. All 4 year scholarship midshipmen have to attend. https://www.netc.navy.mil/Commands/Naval-Service-Training-Command/NROTC/Program-Info/

    I-Day Parent Questions

We are traveling from a far west state so I am wondering what to plan for travel. We are getting in Tuesday afternoon to give DS a full day before drop off. I-Day is tentatively scheduled for Thursday. What day do they take their oath? After that I assume it’s time to leave the yard as we won’t...

    NROTC Scholarship & USNA Appointment

Done that already. Thanks for the feedback. DS has a Marine Corps scholarship so this doesn’t impact the Navy NROTC applicants.

    NROTC Scholarship & USNA Appointment

DS is in the same boat but his NSI report date (notified this week) is the first group in early June three weeks before IDay so feel somewhat compelled to notify NROTC if his choice as would not want to have a blemish on his record that he failed to report.

You should have received an email from Eventbrite as utilizing the website was required to register for CVW, at least it was for our DS.

    MO NROTC 2nd board results

The NROTC application asked if the applicant was applying for other ROTC scholarships and service academies so the boards have an idea of what the applicants are doing. If awarded a MO NROTC you have to accept it within 30 days, at least that what our contact told us.

    Current appointments

I think the academies know what they are doing. The current process identifies the best candidates on the factors the applicants can control. Academics, leadership, extracurricular activities etc. If they screened on medical the quality pool would be diminished and then the decision on waivers...

    MO NROTC 2nd board results

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Most states require sickle cell test results at birth. In Texas it's part of the newborn screening list. I found some NROTC guidance online that allows the use of those test results. I was able to request those from DS pediatrician (found them 18 years later)...

NAPS or A&M Corp of Cadets

I wouldn’t recommend being in the Corps of Cadets 3 years and missing your Zip “senior” year. Work so hard to get your senior boots and never get to use them at a march-in or wear them to class. 😩 That would be a waste along with missing all the good times with your buddies.

Playing sports - chance of getting injured

DS received appointment to USNA CO27. I would never tell him not to compete. He’s wrestling right now even though he has had multiple past injuries. Despite all that, he’s had to push through fears of getting injured. Today not only did he qualify for state but placed 3rd in his weight class for...

Covid Vaccine question class of 27

The portal for the USAFA says the COVID vaccine is no longer required. Wondering if the other service academies will follow suit soon?

USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

I can confirm that when the portal is updated an email is generated. DS heard from MOC before the portal/email but that may not be the case from what I have read in the forums.

NAPS or A&M Corp of Cadets

At Texas A&M, NROTC scholarship recipients receive the Patriot Scholarship that covers room and board. https://today.tamu.edu/2021/11/11/texas-am-commits-50-million-to-full-rides-for-rotc-scholarship-recipients/

    Candidate Visit Weekend

Thanks for those details. DS received an appointment for Class of 2027. Hasn’t been to the Yard so I reached out to admissions about getting a slot and received some questions back so hoping he gets an invite.
