USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

I have been mostly focused on the USCGA thread but since DS is now on USNA waitlist, I have spent a significant amount of time on these USNA forums (ok, like way too much time). I’d just like to say that I would love to sit down and have a drink and discussion with most of you. You all really...

USNA Color Vision Waiver Agreement- Marine Ground?

Congrats on the waiver! Anyone aware of USNA waivers for vision not correctable to 20/20? DS is corrected to 20/20 in the right and 20/30 in the left. No other vision DQ.

    Conditional to Full Appointment

We are still in waiver limbo here. It’s been a little over 6 weeks since conditional USCGA appointment. They haven’t asked for any additional documentation (maybe because we submitted everything there is to submit?). DS recently asked for update/timeline and was told they are working through...

C/O 2028 Wait List: The Wait Listed Bunch

Does USNA start the waiver process for those on the waitlist who have been DQd by dodmerb ? Or do they wait until they offer you an appointment. Doesn’t seem like much time to work with!

Why are academically qualified candidates receiving Falcon Foundation Scholarships?

Prep school mom here. For what it’s worth, My DS just did a 19 mile ruck with a 25lb pack in standard issue combat boots for 19 miles until 1 AM. He has really bad blisters all over his feet. He wakes up at 5 AM for PT five days a week. He has stood in formation in the rain for hours. He has...

    Medical Waiver Process

Dodmerb will likely say under waiver review until the academy notifies them that DD has either been approved a medical waiver or denied. And it's my understanding that you will get an email from CGA with the waiver decision before dodmerb status officially changes. Others who have received a...

    Medical Waiver Process

Since your DD has received a conditional appointment, the USCGA waiver authority will start the process of reviewing her medical documentation. The medical liaison at the academy will reach out to you if they need any other supporting documentation. The average time for waivers is 4-6 weeks...

How to choose a prep program

My advice is to compare cost as well as travel time from home/airport. Can you drive home for break - do you need to find a ride to a major airport to fly instead? I think most of these programs can boast a good chance at an appointment but honestly at the end of the day it's all dependent on...

    CGAS Courses

He has been happy there. The beginning was rough, was a big transition. But he has been thankful for all of the support he has received and is very prepared for the Academy. I think most of those kids (both self prep and CGAS) will breeze through swab summer.

    CGAS Courses

DS is at GMC and even though he is self-prep, he is in the same cohort as the sponsored kids. GMC is on a quarter system, 4 classes each quarter. Each of the 4 quarters he has had a math. This was determined through a placement test but includes algebra, pre-calc, and calc (I think some have 2...

    Feedback from AO

Crickets from AO last cycle after DS reached out for application advice (2 emails sent). Recruiting Branch Chief, LCDR Tony Borruso (anthony.r.borruso@uscga.edu), was recommended to us for application counseling, although we had already ended up speaking to someone else in admissions for advice...

    Conditional appointments - waivers

Wondering how may are waiting for medical waivers. DS got the call on 3/1 offering a conditional appointment to USCGA (official letter is dated 3/5). We were told that average time for waiver process is 4-6 weeks from appointment, sometimes longer and sometimes shorter. It's been a month and...

    Class 2028 Waitlist

Interesting. Well there were 3 USCGA early action appointments this year at Georgia Military College. I know for sure that two of them were not first time applicants. Not sure about the third. Like I said, I think communication with the AO is the best bet.

    Class 2028 Waitlist

For those who were waitlisted for USCGA: If you plan to reapply next cycle, consider applying EA. You will hear from some on this forum that college reapplicants have to apply during regular decision so the academy can see their first semester grades.... but I know of a college reapplicant who...
