2015 Women on the Water Conference to be Held at USMMA

The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, in partnership with the Maritime Administration (MARAD), will host the seventh Women on the Water (WOW) Conference at Kings Point, NY, on March 25-27, 2015. The Conference will bring cadets from the State Maritime Academies and midshipmen from the United States Merchant Marine Academy together with professional women and men who are leaders in various sectors of the maritime industry. The event will be an excellent opportunity for the cadets/midshipmen and maritime professionals to learn about the exciting careers that are available to them directly from successful women and men, as well as hear about current issues affecting the maritime industry. This is also an excellent opportunity for midshipmen, cadets and current maritime professionals to network and share ideas for professional development. If you would like to be added to the list for the Women on the Water Conference, or if you have questions regarding the conference, please send an e-mail to: womenonthewater@dot.gov

Who Should Attend

Maritime Academy Cadets and alumni, USMMA midshipmen and alumni, professional mariners, Maritime Association members, Ship Operators, Ship Owners, Ship Managers, Seafarer & Trade Union Representatives, Admiralty Lawyers, Maritime Academy Representatives, and Maritime Industry Representatives.

Maritime Administration

The Maritime Administration promotes the development and maintenance of an adequate, well-balanced United States merchant marine, sufficient to carry the Nation's domestic waterborne commerce and a substantial portion of its waterborne foreign commerce, and capable of service as a naval and military auxiliary in time of war or national emergency. The Maritime Administration also seeks to ensure that the United States maintains adequate shipbuilding and repair services, efficient ports, effective intermodal water and land transportation systems, and reserve shipping capacity for use in time of national emergency.
