2017 Appointee Stats for future applicants

I'm really glad on how some of the very recents came out to be. Even as an appointee, I found it helpful. For my part, I lacked much of EC's and sports. coming from an immigrant family, I had No rides to anything.. Haha. I've taken on leaderships when I could.. And I must say that what helped me most was the timing and being prepared for the interviews.. I took the naturalization test and received the certificate on the same day (possibly helped me during interview because I told this to my ALO). And I've searched this forum for possible questions that might come up and such...
And I rly hope that my future roomie is good at language arts because I'm not the best at that. Thank you guys for adding good information!

For what it is worth, an amazing GPA, astronomical test scores, and a million extra curriculars mean zip once you are appointed. What is truly important is your work ethic. As an ALO, I have seen some of my "superstars" struggle because they are unprepared to be "okay" with being mediocre in some areas. I have also seen many of my "weaker on paper" kids thrive because they are able to work circles around those stunned superstars - they are used to being scrappers.
Don't spend time and energy comparing yourself to anybody else either now or at the USAFA. Every cadet there brings a different strength to the mix. There is truly no way to compare your candidate package to another's because, as has been said, it is not an apple to apple "thing". Ultimately, What do you call the number one grad in the class? (Second Lt.). What do you call the very LAST grad in the class? (Second Lt.)
