2020 Appointments

My DS had a "conditional LOA" quietly show up in his portal late last week. No phone call no email. It said "Our records indicate you still need to complete items to become fully qualified for admission"
The funny thing is we can't figure out what items need to be completed. He has an appointment offer from USAFA and a 3Q letter from USMA so it seems he has acceptable scores. Could it be 7th semester transcript? We contacted his BGO (who is outstanding by the way) and he is going to see what he can find out. I must admit it is much easier waiting this out since the appointment offer from USAFA came through.

My portal showed the same for about 12 days, then it shifted to an offer. Just wait it will be here shortly.

My son had conditional LoA since Jan 7th, all is complete, still waiting? Don't know when portal will change? Our family has been living a roller coaster since summer. DS has two younger siblings at home interested in SA too so guess this ride is not over!

BGO called USNA for us and was told the "conditional" part was just a clerical thing and it would be updated shortly and DS could expect an offer of appointment soon.

I must pause a moment and repeat how fantastic the BGO has been. The man drove 50 miles to our tiny slice of nowhere town on literally the 4th of July to interview DS because DS was leaving for a camp counseling job on July 5th. Since then he has contacted DS a couple of times with positively worded reminders to get all his stuff turned in. Whenever DS has had a question, his responses have been quick and accurate. My DS has come to respect him very much. This man is a busy airline pilot but still takes the time to provide watchful guidance to his candidates.

That's fantastic!

Same thing here! Son is emailing admissions to ascertain what, if anything, is still needed! We are thinking this is a form letter sort of thing because he is finished with everything except perhaps 7th sem transcripts. Exciting times!
do you see your appointment on your portal before getting notification by mail??

We did. Portal updated on Friday. Admissions communicated with DS today and stated that nothing else is needed, application is complete. Son will "hear from their office within a week or two."

Same deal and info in our house about the LOA appearing on portal and appointment coming soon. Going to the mailbox sure is fun now!

Appointed!

Our son received the following e-mail this morning - "I am pleased to offer you an appointment to the United States Naval Academy as a member of the Class of 2020." Very proud of him. I-Day is June 30.

It seemed like a long wait but we are very pleased that we received this news and it is only January 20th. He has also received an LOA from the USMMA and he is waiting to hear from USMA which he has a nomination and admissions has recently changed his status to 'fully qualified'.

What an incredible journey this has been. He has now been blessed with an incredible opportunity that will surely define his life in many ways.

Congrats! Wondering if the trend is the portal changes on Friday's or keeping checking everyday?

My son has the same BGO and I agree whole heartedly that he is fantastic! My son had his heart set on attending the USAFA and received an appt. but I believe his extremely positive experience dealing with his BGO has swayed him towards the Naval Academy (received a nom from his MOC, but still waiting to hear about an appt.). I can't say enough good things about his BGO or the impression that we now have of the Naval Academy. If there were awards given for Best BGO, this guy would win one hands down!

How soon after appointment can I expect the BFE?

It can vary from days to weeks. BFE showed up roughly 12 days after his call from MOC if I recall correctly. The real fun starts in April when the second BFE arrives :screwy:

big fat envelope - ie appointment. There's an acronym stickie around here somewhere. BFE is opposite of TWE - thin white envelope or rejection
