2020 Graduation moved to Apr 18

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Class of 2020 is pleased to announce their graduation event on April 18 culminating their four years at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

The class is planning an event six weeks ahead of schedule allowing them to celebrate together, while ensuring their health and safety by adhering to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Department of Defense guidelines.

Family, friends, and the public will be able to live stream the entirety of the event, although they will not be able to attend in person due to health and safety concerns.

“I have invited the Class of 2020 to help the staff design their graduation ceremony and they will do this with the same care for military tradition and the Academy’s legacy as they’ve done leading other world-class Academy events,” said U.S. Air Force Academy Superintendent Lieutenant General Jay Silveria.

The accelerated graduation day will uphold the rigorous military and academic commissioning standards the Academy is known for and the nation expects.

The Academy will release details of the event once they are available. We are excited for the cadets as they begin their journey in the Air and Space Forces.

Combating COVID-19: Academy tailors make masks for cadets

Tailors are making 10-inch by 6-inch cotton masks at the cadet tailor shop in Sijan Hall using cloth similar to surgical material.

This could make for an interesting live-streamed and recorded graduation next Saturday.
As a 2020 parent, not sure how I feel about this being "captured" to have for DD's or our graduation memories.

Based on preliminary practice pictures, I'm afraid we're going to see the graduating class during the ceremony at 6-feet spacing with masks.
I am hoping in the near future, we can watch the replay and pics and laugh about it.

Although I feel slightly selfish! We soooo looked forward to seeing our son graduate! He, on the other hand is over the moon to finish early and start his career! Congrats to all in the class of 2020!!! in

I know this isn’t ideal and I feel terrible for the friends and family of the 2020 graduates but USAFA May end up being the only live, in person graduation in the entire country.
