2024 Job Drops?

Last year for my 23 it was week before parents weekend. Good luck to all the 24’s, exciting times.
 
Has anyone heard anything? The rumor mill is flying with predications it'll be before or during parents weekend.
 
Just did a road trip to Finland with a C2C who thinks it will happen the week after Parents Weekend. He has a whole system to keep the info secret till the official time since that is his squadron job this year.
 
Hopefully sooner than later but at the Senior Leaders’ Panel and Parents’ Q&A they did say it may even take a few more weeks for the jobs drop.

They mentioned that sometimes they will send back the list and ask them to keep working on it. And that a few weeks is nothing compared to trying to help the majority of the graduates receive one of their top 3 preferences which can affect years of service.

Our cadet told us that the jobs list is sent to leadership at USAFA who then go through them based on their personal experience and knowledge of the cadets. If cadets are reccomend for jobs leaders know is the wrong job for the strengths of the cadet, they edit and suggest other jobs: this is usually done weeks before the job drop. As of parents weekend, this has yet to happen, so we are looking at weeks to months post PW.
 
My DD found out her job/base in June/August, but it really doesn't feel any more certain since she is also applying to graduate programs, so we will be waiting for final decisions even past normal job drop. But she's very happy for the position (3 Cadets this year) and extremely happy with the base, in the event she spectacularly flails out of the grad school process. An engagement (to another Cadet) is imminent so we will also see what the timing is on that!

My 2024 DD told me last night that the job drops will be announced on Friday, September 22. I believe the ROTC job drops will be this week.
 
AFROTC Nationwide dropped AFSCs Monday night, but it's up to Det/CCs as to when they notify. Personally, my Det will announce them tomorrow, but I know some of my friends at other detachments learned yesterday.
 
My son is a third-class this year. Does anyone know if the third-class has any responsibilities or involvement during the Job Drop. It looks like it may land on the dates I will be visiting him. Thanks.
 
.... I am not sure what the Job Drop looks like. Is there a dinner, a celebration, or event centered around it?

"Job Drop" events are typically organized at the squadron level and vary quite a bit. It is possible that he'd be "strongly encouraged" to attend something. He would be able to give you the best information.
