I have been reading this forum for a while but never joined until now and this is my first post. Mr. Mullen I am hoping you may be willing to give me some guidance and it seems as though I should post here prior to sending you an email. Like many it seems, I have dealt with some anxiety in the past and been prescribed and taken medication for it as well as having a 504 plan. My anxiety has mostly caused some IBS issues and I needed to be able to have a fast pass to get to the restroom. I had my accommodations removed this year as I never utilized any of them but we had kept them on "just in case." I also discontinued my medication (with my doctor's blessing) this spring and that has been going fine.
I was also diagnosed when I was younger with a very slightly dilated ascending aorta. I follow up with a cardiologist yearly and he says (and I have records) that it is a nothing and I was cleared for wrestling with no concerns.
And finally, I have pectus carinatum. It is mild and causes no issues and I have no problems with any type of clothing, etc.
I am more than willing to go through the process if there is even a glimmer of hope and have started on my applications but was hopeful that you may give me any advice or even tell me "not a chance" if you think that is the case. Thank you very much in advance for any help.

I'd like to mention that the medical waiver process is often extremely lengthy and annoying to say the least. I had to wait about 3 months to hear about a single DQ for an allergy. Expect to be waiting a long time. Expect to need to submit a TON of health history information. And expect to need to go to multiple doctor's appointments regarding your issues. Stick with it. As Mr. Mullen says, your chances of getting a waiver if you don't go through the process will always be 0.

Thanks js9907. I understand the process is going to be painful. I know there are some issues that are fairly un-waiverable so wanted to get a better sense of what I might be up against with 3 specific health items. If I have a snowballs chance in He!! then I will have to decide how I want to move forward. It may be that I postpone the academy application and ensure that I have a few years with no anxiety medication (that one is my biggest concern) and perhaps join an ROTC unit while in college or go to OCS after I graduate. I will not let this stand in my way but may need to consider shifting gears a bit.

Sounds like you've got a good plan ready. Good luck 👍
