After some time waiting for my CFA to finish pending, I recently received a letter in my portal stating that I am fully qualified(3Q) and placed on the NWL. I was also notified last month that I was given a principal nomination from my congresswoman. I am still waiting on my high school to finish processing and send 7th-semester transcripts. Does this mean that an appointment is near?

I also have an issue regarding dual citizenship. This past summer, I began the process to renounce foreign citizenship. I have this citizenship because my parents were still citizens of that country when I was born in the U.S. I did not know that I had this citizenship until last year. If left unresolved, this may have caused some problems in the future. I do not have any foreign passports. This foreign citizenship should be renounced in the coming months, but I was wondering if it would hinder the obtainment of the appointment? I believe it should be taken care of in time for a security clearance.

Thank you.

My DS had a similar “dual citizenship” issue to take care of before he could enter USMA last July. Once you receive your appointment you will be required to go through a basic background check so you can be given a ‘Secret’ clearance. Dual citizens are required to sign a document renouncing their foreign citizenship. It’s a pretty simple process so don’t worry about it. Dual citizenship will normally not get in the way of receiving an appointment. Congratulations and good luck with the rest of the process!!
