Was it a letter informing you of your 3Q status and that USMA expected to inform applicants one way or another by sometime in February? Or did it say you should expect an actual offer of appointment?

3Q is a big step forward. You know you are now in the hunt with all other fully qualified candidates. If you have a nom in hand, even better.

I believe OP has an LOA.
 
My admission officer told me I should hear about a decision by February, but it wasn’t through a letter and it was only after I had verified with them that I fully completed my application. I have a service related nomination and I haven’t received an official statement/notice stating that I’m 3Q. Is this something I should be concerned about?

If not, i wouldn’t guess that’s it’s set in stone. I got an LOA about a month ago and finished my application on the 4th of December. Today I got a letter saying I was 3Q and to expect an appointment around February.

I do not have an LOA. Also, does everyone receive a notice when they are 3Q? If I haven’t received one, does that mean I’m not up to standard in one of the areas of the application?

I know no one here can give me a certain answer, but I’m just throwing it out there to hear what you all have to say.
 
Okay, I got a letter that says I'm 3Q but all they need is a nom. Is this an LOA? It's not titled as such if it is. The letter says specifically "We are still waiting for a nomination before we can consider you for an appointment." I did get an LOE in August however.
 
I received an LOA in July. However, I have not received a 3Q letter. Not sure what it is but I have all green checkmarks except for my nomination. My MOC have not issued them yet.

From my understanding, not everyone gets a 3q. And don’t stress because you still have time to get a nomination. I’d say having green checks every where else is a great sign (especially with that LOA)!

Thanks! If I did not have patience prior to this, I have definitely developed the skill...lol

An LOA will specifically state that it is an LOA. Based off the wording "before we can consider you for an appointment", your lettetr was more likely just sent to motivate you to continue working on your file and earning a nomination. An LOE is not a guarantee either, it is a sign that you are a strong candidate, though.
 
Do not stress if you don't receive a 3Q letter! I never received one, yet I received an appointment on my portal today.
