3rd attempt at applying to the USMA

There are many good colleges. There is only one West Point.
Yes but is it about being an officer or going to West Point. Do you know what they call the guy who came in last in his in his class in medical school ? The answer is Doctor. Same holds true for anyone who commissions from West Point or Rotc. Don’t get me wrong , for many people the choice would be to join West Point, at some point u have to go on with your life . I don’t begrudge the Junior Rotc cadet who finally made it into West Point . It is his life to choose , but is West Point or being in the military the end goal
The value of West Point does not end at graduation. It continues for a lifetime, in or out of the military.

I won’t argue with that but they have done studies where they compare people from Ivy League schools and people who didn’t and in the long run the school didn’t make that much of a difference . There were other factors that dictated their ultimate success or not . I would assume they don’t include the academies , so I have no idea if it would follow

Don’t get me wrong. You can still have a great career from a “second tier” university. My DW is living proof. But the university you attend can open doors that you might not even know existed.

I completely agree . They can open many doors but in the end , long term success is based on the person . A lawyer from Harvard Law school is going have more doors open with a higher salary. In the end its the lawyer who wins the bigger cases who will have the bigger career

Fed, My second cousins roommate at Annapolis was a three time applicant with 2 years of college, they graduated together from USNA. If USMA is in the back of your mind give it your best and see what happens.

As a mom of 2...one who was devasted he didn't get in the academy (disqualified for eyes-got PRK surgery went ROTC), one who didn't want to go the academy route.. Both got the jobs they wanted in the end through ROTC next to the academy graduates...I guess you need to decide what is important to you...you can accomplish your end goal job either way. Bless your determination with which ever path you take...
