4*s Get New Squadron Assignments

Yeah, I only saw one person shuffled due to frat, and that is probably the same case Hornet is talking about. (USAFA and that cadet parted ways before graduation.)

It's never a good time to push the limits for stupidity, but now doesn't qualify as a very forgiving time.

I wish it was way before graduation, I think he was in spring semester before they booted him? (Or was it right before winter break?)

For everyone else, a 2009 guy in my squad decided to frat with a 4 dig girl. She was his "mentee" back when we had 2 dig mentoring and he was already in trouble for alcohol. He comes back drunk and kisses her one night. Lit a big fire in my squad. They were forbidden from speaking to each other. The next semester, found out they were having an intimate relationship behind all our backs. He got sent to raimius' squad (around the corner lol). STILL didn't break off that relationship and (combined with many other offenses) was finally booted his firstie year.

I'll also add, the 4 dig was the only person I know who managed to be on EVERY probation (academic, athletic, conduct, aptitude, and honor) at the same time in her first semester. Wasn't booted till 3 dig year.

I'll add MORE, her "coach" (my class mate) was the only other person I knew to get on every probation (just not all at once), and several of them 2-3 times. Her coach wasn't thrown out till our firstie year despite all of us trying VERY hard to get her out....

Moral of the story? A) don't be an idiot B) sometimes the system takes a long time to work (and still sometimes fails) C) don't bank on the system happening to fail and letting you get through (see A) and D) the chances of slipping the system with budget cuts are very, very small.

Maybe the new cadets can refer to these prior class years as the "Good Ol' Days".

Ha! Perhaps. So long, I like the future better. :) If I ever returned as an AOC, I would probably be nicknamed Ivan the Terrible.

Poor assumption. Not uncommon for up to 3 people from 4 dig year to go with each other to a new squadron. I saw many of my 4 dig squad mates after whether in class, around my new squadron area, or went out for fun with them. Going to a new squad doesn't mean we don't see them anymore. The "big three" aren't that big. No disadvantage.

Oh okay, I guess that isn't to bad because of your size. I have 5 people from my 4/c company going to my new one in the scramble, and there are 4 others from my swab summer company as well.

Out of curiosity, do you guys end up knowing all of your classmates as well? Thanks!

just as a FYI, SamAca10, your statement about all academies participating is wrong. The Naval academy does not have a shuffle at all. The same group of people stay in the same company from Plebe Summer through graduation. They are, however, allowed to request to change companies through a "hate chit" or a "love chit". A chit is nothing more than a letter requesting the change, and happens either when there is a serious issue in a company with one person and they are "hated" too much, and the other is if they wish to date someone within their company. They are not permitted to date within company, so they can "love chit" and have one person go to another company so they can date.

New Squadrons

I have not gone to the Academy nor have I been in the Air Force so I do not have any history from which to speak, but someone wrote on another forum about a cadet going to Squadron One and people telling him "sorry to hear that", while one other was disappointed he didn't get into Squadron One. I assumed life as an upper classman was pretty much the same no matter what squadron you were in. Are there discernible differences between the various squadrons for upper classmen? Does this have to do with potential career opportunities?
Thanks.

All squads are different. Some squads, like Mighty Mach 1, is considered super hard core so thats where the comment came from. It doesn't have anything to do with your career opportunities, but just how your life will be while you are here.

As far as the life of an upperclassman, it can be pretty different. The biggest difference normally is how a squad treats their 3 digs. Some squad treat them as full upperclassmen and some treat them as varsity freshman.

If you go back to my statement, I said "to my knowledge" or something to that affect...glad to see that I was proven wrong on it! :thumb:

That's really interesting how the Naval academy does things...the dating rule seems a bit ludicrous though. But I guess it's just part of their frat/dating policies. For instance, at coast guard only 4/c can date 4/c, 2/c can date 3/c or 1/c, and 1/c can date either 2/c or recently commissioned officers from the class before them.

Didn't you go on exchange Eagle? I'm really hoping to get it when it's my time, and I was wondering if you had any insight on what you gained from the experience. Thanks!

Oh and I saw that you are currently at Wright-Patt. How are you liking it there? It's near my area!

I did do exchange to the Naval Academy Fall of '08 (2 dig year). its kind of going off topic on here, but if you'd like to either PM me or start a new thread for it, I'd be more than willing to share about the process and the experience. in the mean time, I enjoyed the experience, and am glad I joined the service I did. And as for Wright-Patt, i went to HS around here, and let's just say it's not my favorite place i've lived. lol
