It's bugging me that I had a typo in mine so I'm re-copying here so that everyone will cut and paste the corrected post ;) These are some impressive schools!

@hopjop I have been awarded a scholarship that provides guaranteed admission with full tuition paid to Notre Dame (not NROTC scholarship). What are your stats - ACT, GPA, Unique Qualities - that you think helped you earn the NROTC scholarship?

Well… it’s my son and I’d say he’s much more worried about getting into Notre Dame (decision get announced this week) than he was getting NROTC scholarship so you’ve got the easier one taken care of already. We are hoping having the NROTC scholarship will give him an edge with admissions which has become much more competitive in last few years. His ACT was 34, weighted GPA 4.4 unweighted 3.98, AP Capstone with distinction, Eagle Scout, double varsity sport, lots of leadership positions and over 200 hours community service hours.

I should also add that his officer interview was reported to us as being very good and he maxed out on 2/3 PRT elements and pretty good on the 3rd. His LOR were good as well. Good luck!

Holy smokes he sounds like they'd be lucky to get him as much as the other way round! Good luck!!

Since there are a few who have posted that they are accepting or have accepted their 4 year NROTC scholarship, this is as good a time as any to mention you need to be working on your DODMERB paperwork if you didn't start already.

And before you know it, New Student Indoc, aka NSI, is just around the corner.

Please check the attached GIF for dates to submit your NSI paperwork. If I can get ahead of last years questions......"Do I need to have a sickle cell trait test?" YES. "Can I tell the Great Lakes team that my family has a summer vacation so I can't go to NSI? Well, sure, you can, and they will likely tell you that without NSI there is no scholarship activation.

Just some things to think about.

Can I assume that the DoDMERB information is the same for SA as it is for NROTC? I was deemed qualified through DoDMERB for USNA.

I wish Mr. Mullen were here to confirm that. I believe that if you received a qualified letter from. DODMERB then you are good to go. However, all waivers are not the same and sometimes a person is granted a waiver for an SA but not ROTC. If you have reached out to your NROTC unit their HR rep can check what they show in their system. I just don't want to give you a false assurance.

Thank you. I will reach out to Mr. Mullen. He has been very helpful during this whole process.

Curious how everyone is doing with applications to their top choices? Any successful early acceptances or early decisions
A few weeks back our son was bumped up to early decision at the great Virginia Tech.. still chilling on the December board results.. and more. Wishing you and everyone a Merry Christmas! And Gooooo Navy!

DD received Early Decision acceptance to her #1 choice- George Washington University 😃!
(NROTC situation is unknown; she interviewed for possible ISR a couple months ago, but we heard nothing more... recruiter says package is at Great Lakes, so maybe it's at regular board.
(DD is determined to attend GWU; if necessary she'll use financial-aid and begin NROTC as program then try for side-load.)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say her chances are pretty good for getting in to GWU on scholarship. 😉

Yes, GWU offered her a good scholarship, which combined with Pell grant & loans would be enough if she doesn't get NROTC scholarship. (I'm puzzled that she was in the running for ISR but might actually get nothing.)
