4th Class Answering Questions

do you choose roommates/ fill out a questionnaire to be matched with similar people or are roommates just assigned?
Read post #31 above to find your answer. They request a roommate for 3C year onwards.
Depending on company, roommate requests are allowed as early as first semester although that's rare - most allow for roommate choices second semester of 4/c year.

Our DS is there now and NO they did not allow them to request roommates at all during 4C year. He is a 3C and they all got to have a "request sheet" for their roommates for the first semester. They will have to put in another request for next semester as well. This is done for each semester starting with 3C year.
I'm well aware, seeing as how I too am a 3/c here in New London as I type this. While that may have been your DS's experience, I can personally guarantee you that some companies do allow it, as I chose my roommate last semester.

My mistake. I have not heard if this before for anyone other companies. Parents would have said something on FB page if their cadets did. Oh well, you were fortunate to have a company that did that.

Not sure if you will be able to answer this or have an opinion. Here goes. My son is very intested in applying for AIM after 2 visits to the CGA, and then attending a Bear’s Day. Looked at the medical questionnaire for AIM today, and unfortunately my son will have to answer “yes” to the question that’s asks if you were prescribed an inhaler after 12 (while we understand this is a DODMerb DQ, we believe it would be worth pursuing a waiver based on advice from his physicians if he is fortunate enough to make it that far in the USCGA application process). The question is, while there is a waiver process for Academy admissions, would a yes answer on the AIM medical questionnaire be an automatic knockout for AIM only? Thanks - very helpful forum!

Obligatory not in admissions so can't authoritatively answer, but here goes. While the Academy is allowed to make ineligible people for admission because of medical standards, AIM is not an appointment to a military position, and therefore I believe that applications are considered regardless of medical status. Again, I can't swear to this, but definitely worth an application.

Thanks very much @ekb1398 . Appreciate your insight!
