Hello,

I just have a quick question about the significance of 7th semester grades. So, I just received straight A’s for this semester and I’ll have my transcript sent to USMA on Wednesday. I’m still competing on my congressional district’s slate, so I was hoping that these grades would give me somewhat of a boost in the admissions process.

However, my friend from another district told me that he received his appointment (no LOA) a week before he even submitted his transcript. That had me a little confused since I thought they used those grades as a factor in admissions. So, I was just wondering if 7th semester grades could actually make a difference in the admissions process?

Thanks!

So, you must submit the 7th semester transcript but many applicants have already received appointments with out them. It may not make that much of a difference in your application but it is a requirement.

Your overall GPA will not change that significantly from the addition of one more semester. If however, you are on the edge and are using this senior year of courses to demonstrate that you are on an upward trend, then it might make a difference. If you have been shining all the way through high school, it doesn't matter.

How would it affect a candidate who received all A’s over their first 6 semesters, but received a few B’s and a C in AP courses their 7th semester?

No one knows for certain, we do not serve on the admissions panel. There is some likelihood that this person has already been reviewed.
No one can tell you. You put your best packet forward and will know between now and 1 May. Just hang in there.
