A Few Questions

Run. A lot. Also (as a female) be able to do at least 1 pull-up in the equivalent of ABUs... long sleeves & heavy shoes.

Beyond that... you'll do a lot of push ups and flutter kicks. Just be ready to do your best. Attitude is the most important part. And don't worry too much! Thousands of people (some of whom were undoubtedly less intelligent, hard working, physically strong, or fast) have made it through. So can you.

Thank you everyone, your advice has been great. I've been working hard and will continue to do so, I think the mental aspect is what's going to be most important above all else. Looking forward to this experience!

Be careful - there are two facebook pages for class of 2018 and both say "official", but one isn't.

One is comprised mostly of 2017ers it seems.

This might be a silly question, but does anyone know how the In-processing T-shirts generally fit? I would assume it would be better to order up a size in case they run small.

The big deals at BCT are cardio, push-ups, and flutter-kick type exercises.
If you can't run 3-5mi at a good pace, keep working on it. Being able to run well makes everything else easier. Other exercises generally focus more on endurance than straight strength--push-ups, flutter-kicks, 10 count body-builders, etc.

As for what is tough about BCT: it's the grind, not any individual activity. Keep a good attitude, work hard, and support those around you. Do that, and you'll have a 90%+ chance of succeeding.

As for majors, do what you are interested in and good at. Now, if you want to be a test pilot/astronaut, you'll need a hard science or engineering degree.

What is considered a good pace?

I'd say around an 8:00min pace is a good start for the 3-5mi.

For guys, you need to be able to do 1.5mi in 11:15 or better to even pass. Doing better is highly recommended.

How many of the Class(%) do you feel will better the 11:15 1.5 mile time during BCT testing first time given not being totally rested each day leading up to it? I get the sense its 'harder than it sounds' given the environment and activity level.

Most will be passing at the end of BCT.

You don't want to be failing from the start!
(I was in that boat, and it's not a pleasant ride...)
