Doubt anybody has heard of this band. They used to play house (frat) parties around the University of Washington neighborhood here in Sea Wa (or as DD would say “in PacNo". I catch-em around town and at zoo concerts in the summer.

Not “big time” but they’ve been noticed and have a fair amount of You Tube content out there.

I like this one, maybe have a listen?

Here’s one from over the pond … the Irish Celtic band, “Pogues” … to get you into the Christmas Holiday mood …

RIP Shane MacGowan … Pogues frontman who recently passed away …

Watching Celtic Women from the Helix in Dublin. Their 20th anniversary show. I was fortunate to run into several of the original members, purely by accident, on a trip to Ireland. Amazing young ladies...with amazing talents!!

He died at 65....which is some kind of a miracle given his whiskey-soaked (and heroin, in his 20s) lifestyle.

New category: Songs named after days of the week.

Monday, Monday --- The Mamas & the Papas.

Tuesday's Gone --- Lynyrd Skynard
Wednesday Morning - Simon & Garfunkel.
Thursday's Child --- David Bowie
Another Saturday Night --- Sam Cooke
Saturday Night (Is Right For Fighting) --- Elton John.

I got nothing for Friday, but if I cheated & googled it I'm sure I'd find something.

Fairytale of NY — Kind of what the song is about … tragic lives … hope and shattered dreams … like a Tennessee Williams play …. It’s probably why the song is played in the UK pretty much on an endless-loop leading into Christmas … it’s synonymous with the Holiday season nowadays

Kirsty MacColl … Ewan MacColl’s daughter, is the counterpart to Shane MacGowan in Fairytale of NY …. She died a tragic death a few years back while vacationing in Mexico …. Some drunk boaters ran her over while she was snorkeling with her kids

Btw … it’s fun to memorize the Lyrics to Fairtale of NY and sing it with friends and family members this time of year … some sing Shane’s lyrics while others sing Kristy’s lyrics … and everyone sings the chorus …

I’d post the lyrics … but some of the words are a little tart for some folks these days … 😉
