I was going through my Grandfather's items recently and came across this letter sent to him as he left the Navy. He was drafted into the Navy and left his typewriter repair business and family (wife and 3 kids) behind. Once the war was over, he reestablished his business and had another three children.
I am sure this was a "form letter" (the signature is stamped) but Forrestal's words and sentiment are really great to read.
