I'm curious if anyone knows...
Are the class profile stats culled from the appointee's applications at the time of acceptance, or are they updated by USNA admissions after 8th semester? Maybe another way of asking this is do the SA's update the appointed individual's "resume" (GPA, EAs, sports letters, captaincies, etc.) to reflect the entire high school period? I'm thinking they must because USAFA lists valedictorians, which I suspect cannot be known until the final days of school. If this is indeed the case, then juniors in high school may be trying to match or exceed profile statistics for persons who have had one additional year of high school. Not saying that isn't a good guidepost because the reality of it is that the application typically includes only 6 (or possibly 7) semesters' records. But when the profile for the Class of 2021 lists, for example, 92% as having participated in varsity athletics and 74% as Captains-Co-Captain, don't those percentages reflect some who didn't attain the status of varsity athlete or captain until after their completed application was submitted and reviewed by admissions? Similarly, when we see folks posting personal stats on these forums, are we seeing the stats included in the applications or the stats upon graduation? Seems also that re-applicants would have the benefit (beyond a year of college) of including their entire high school record in their re-application (which could include, for example, captain of the baseball team - a spring sport - which likely would not have been included in the first application).
