Hi all, anyone received cadet outreach from WP? DD received a message from a cadet corporal regarding application process. I would think it us legit since the message mentioned details only WP knows. Anyone has similar experience? For some reason, voice mail and text are from different numbers.

That would generally be unusual unless it is connected to a home visit for the cadet corporal. Many upper class cadets participate in Cadet Public Relations Council (CPRC) visits with prospective candidates when they are home during the Thanksgiving break or before and after Spring Break. If the outreach is along those lines, then it is probably legit. If not, then I am not sure. The email from the cadet should have come from a 'westpoint.edu' address. If not, I would be a little weary.

This year West Point began a new program called the Cadet Ambassador Program (CAP). It is supposed to provide cadet candidates with someone who can serve as a mentor. This outreach may potentially be that program.

That's an interesting change. Not a bad idea. Probably a good connection opportunity to the traditional CPRC program.

My son got an email from a recent grad working with admissions at USAFA to see if he had any questions etc.

Thank you all for replying. Based on feedback from admission RC, it seems legit to have the outreach from the cohort in your home state.

It may be legit. My DS is a cadet corporal participating. They will normally contact only candidates in their district, after contacting the FFR and sometimes the MOC nomination staff for their district.

The email or phone used could be a personal email (non westpoint.edu) and personal phone of the cadet.

When in doubt, reach out to your FFR or admissions officer or local MOC nomination staff. They would know which cadets are part of the program.

I'd like to add that this is a great program. You can talk to a current cadet, as things do change and it helps to get the latest experiential info. It is also a good leadership opportunity for these current cadets.

My DS participated in this mentoring when he was a candidate/applicant to USMA. The USMA cadet previously went to a different high school in our area but was very helpful and kind to my DS. There were several participants too, and my DS got to meet the other candidates from our area.

DS received an email from a cadet 2 weeks ago who will be in our area during Thanksgiving break and wanted to meet up, DS has few friends at WP from his sport but he gladly replied to the email for a meet up.

Speaking as a parent of a grad, if you can accept these! Purely selfish as a parent though. It permits the Cadets an extra day of precious leave. Am sure you will get something out of it too. But, as a parent speaking selfishly for an extra day with Mid/Cadet -- accept them.

This is exactly out current situation as of last week. My DS is going to meet with the cadet over Thanksgiving break.
