Accept VMI Offer as Backup?

So, I selected WP just a few days ago, and sent my declination to the USNA today. However, I have been thinking about the VMI offer. What kind of advice or experience do you guys have? I do not want to decline it then be left out to dry if I get hurt, but I also do not want to accept it and take the opportunity away from someone else. Thanks.

StlCards:- it's not your responsibility to worry about someone else's opportunity. My advice- ( I assume you are talking about admission to VMI and not accepting an ROTC scholarship?) accept VMI as a fall back, and don't show up on matriculation day because everything will go well for you at Beast . But the value of keeping VMI on the string as a contingency in case of physical injury at Beast is a little sketchy- if you get hurt at USMA in July that badly you will likely be too injured to start up as a Rat in August.
