Congrats ... that is a great opportunity ! When I got an offer to go to NAPS (looong ago), I was disappointed that I didn't get into USNA first try. But looking back, its the best thing that ever happened to me. I got my butt kicked at NAPS...but learned to study, and learned how to learn. I ended up doing very well at USNA because of it. (And I also met my wife !)

Thank you sir! My sister attended NAPS, and she said it was an amazing experience. I’m very thankful.

I just received the email that I was accepted to the Naval Academy Preparatory School!
Congratulations!! Can you provide any details? Are you a recruited athlete, did you have an nomination, ect....?
I received the NROTC MO scholarship last week and did my CFA again, so those were the only updates to my application. My BGO said those two items must have helped.

Newport is a great town but cold and bitter in the winter. After we saw Annapolis we thought it looked like a big Newport. NAPS from south hated the weather. Try Atlantic Grille for breakfast with family (just off first beach in Middletown). Try Anthony's Seafood for great food where the locals go. Many a year with two at St. George's. Good Luck and Fair Winds and Following Seas.

Thank you for the tips! I’ll definitely have to try those places out.

My two favorite towns to visit. Both are sailing towns, and with that brings great restaurants and bars. I was in Newport for the '80 America's Cup and it was hopping all fall. (Of course, both are more fun now that I can afford to go out, and don't have the presssures of school !)

DD did 44's to Newport on one of her summer blocks (I think O) since she had some Blue Water experience. Since she went to school there she was tour director. America's Cup was always a nightmare but a great time for all. Any race that starts or finishes in Newport is a great week (the cannon goes off from Fort Adams as every ship crosses the finish line). They also have the Tall Ships which is a great week

Just had one other question. Most of what I have read is that NAPS is usually where USNA sends recruited athletes and folks coming from the fleet. Do you fall into either one of those categories or are you a high school applicant? Congratulations again!!

I am a high school applicant. Usually, NAPS is for candidates that are lacking academically, physically, or did not receive a nomination. Since my test scores weren’t extremely good, I’m guessing that is why they chose to send me to NAPS. I hope this helps!
