Thank you! But that was not mentioned before we were given an option. If we knew that's going to be a disqualification we wont choose that option.Medical procedures that officials determine could put you at risk of reinjury, being unable to complete training, etc. will disqualify you. ACL surgery is a normal procedure, but it obviously might negatively affect your ability to perform military duties. You can still potentially get a waiver for it.

Thank you! My son was cleared on his ACL Reconstruction surgery but not the use of allograft procedure.Get in contact with Mr. Mullen - he is the ONLY person on this forum that can answer your question. Sticky at the top of the DoDMERB page.
+1 for contacting Mr. Mullen. That being said, unless the surgeon knew this would be a disqualifying procedure and that was something that was important to your DS then the surgeon would not likely bring that up in the informed consent discussion about risks and benefits. I am not certain, but a disclosed ACL tear without repair might also lead to a DQ (again, that is an assumption on my part). I also believe, for NON-SA collegiate athletes, an ACL tear or repair is going to be closely looked at before a scholarship offer were to be extended. The kid has been back to wrestling, juijitsu, football and skiing. I think some kids that had ACL surgery may have use the allograft but didn't know the difference and didn't mention it the medical history and got qualified.

So - to save some time as Mr. Mullen is probably jamming out to U2 (his son is the drummer)
MOM/DAD: Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process;" Read paragraph #4.
DS : Send me an email: lawrence.e.emullen.civ@mail.mil; provide complete name and last 4 SSN; provide the text of your Parent's posting above to YOUR email.![]()
I emailed him myself around 5 but he hasnt gotten back to me. My son had been communicating with the DODMERB about his case while I stood back. I let him do it. He had done a couple of remedials and were cleared but not this one. This is my first time asking question for it has been a long stressful process already.Understood - Mr. Mullen is the goto on this

I understand that but while I wait I just want to know if others have the same experience on the same case. I am new to this forum and I know he's a busy man and from what I saw reading some posts he seems very responsive. You know DD Mullen literally can get hundreds of emails in just a few days, right?
Every case is considered on an individual basis. We are all just playing around on the internet. Mr. Mullen is the only person that can advise you on your son's specific case. I understand that this is stressful, but follow his instructions and you will get the "correct" information. Best of luck to you DS.The

I think I did, but Mr. Mullen replied and had received the email. Can I blame the re-post error on Mullen under the pre-existing conditions clause?Did you copy the recent post with the incorrect email with extra “e” in the name? I saw some posts on that go by.
