As an academy admissions partner I found this front page news report from the Chicago Tribune interesting. The report examines ACT scores as a predictor of college readiness for high school students. One finding: "Eight of 10 public high school juniors in Illinois weren't considered ready for college classes in all subjects based on ACT testing last spring."

When competing for a college seat, reading ACT test prep books with practice tests and attending ACT prep seminars may help improve an application. Do keep in mind that the academy is looking for a well rounded applicant not students that ace a test but have little else to offer.
