How good is an 8 on ACT Writing? Also, will a score of 34 be adequate to (hopefully) get me into West Point? Thanks!

A 34 puts you in the upper 75th percentile, so that's really good! I personally also got an 8 out of 12 on my ACT writing and I did get accepted. Keep in mind that there is more to it than just test scores but that looks good!

Your overall is better than mine, I got in with a 31 composite score. I got a 10/12 on writing which equates to a 30 on the 36 point scale. The 8/12 you got on writing translates to a 24 on the 36 point scale. Still, you should be fine with a 34 composite score. I would worry about other things to improve on at this point as a 34 is nearly the maximum score.
