What is this? Noted as cadet and mid-year administrative processing on the calendar.
This is when all cadets are brought back to the campus after summer break (cap) and winter break (map) and set up their new rooms, figure out their classes, meet with their advisors etc. What is this? Noted as cadet and mid-year administrative processing on the calendar.
I believe so, at least for 4c and 3c year. They are assigned a roommate for the first semester and then get to choose a roommate for the second.Do they change rooms every semester?
Yes, they change rooms every semester, and in general, they don't want you to have the same roommate 2 semesters in a row. The cadets have to room with someone from their year and their company, so it limits your choices. Once in a while, you might be able to room with someone from the company which borders yours in Chase Hall and then those 2 cadets would share the room right on the border of the two companies. The cadets submit their wish list of cadets to room with, but nothing is guaranteed.Do they change rooms every semester?
They are still doing construction/improvements on Chase Hall this year, so there might still be some cadets in triples. There are a few rooms that are meant to be triples and have extra space, but for the past 2 years, they've had to convert some doubles into triples. As they've made progress on the construction work, fewer cadets have been in triples each year. Improvements are scheduled to be done by the end of this school year.As others have mentioned, they change rooms and roommates every semester. For my son’s 1st semester 4/C year (so right after swab summer), he was actually in a triple so he had two roommates. The swabs will also switch rooms and roommates during swab summer. So there’s a lot of moving around.
My son has only been in a triple that one semester (due to the renovations being done) and it didn’t bother him at all. He loved both of his roommates and they had a lot of fun together. Definitely not a disaster if that happens. They are still doing construction/improvements on Chase Hall this year, so there might still be some cadets in triples. No, definitely not the case for everybody. My daughter got her first choice for a roommate for first semester, and didn't get somebody from her list for second. I think they try to match people from their "wish list", but it's hit or miss if you get the person and location you ask for. They are assigned a roommate for the first semester and then get to choose a roommate for the second.

Very interesting! I never knew they factored that in, but that makes sense. As the cadets advance to 1/c they realize there is a lot more factors to consider in roommate assignments than cadet's individual requests sheets. The only near universal rule is two struggling cadets generally will not room together.
No, this is something I wasn't aware of either and had planned on seeing him that week. But they are so busy and do not typically have any liberty that week.Anyone know if after the conclusion of swab summer, during CAP and before the start of Fall semester, do swabs get any time to possibly get together with parents?
No, CAP week is a busy time for cadets. They do not have time off to visit with parents.Anyone know if after the conclusion of swab summer, during CAP and before the start of Fall semester, do swabs get any time to possibly get together with parents?
This is partially true. While cadets and new swabs will not have time to visit parents during the week, we still get liberty on the weekends. Additionally, regimental staff can route for a long, which means we get to leave on Friday afternoon and don’t have to be back until Sunday evening. No, CAP week is a busy time for cadets. In summary, you won’t get to see your child during CAP week, but they may be free Friday and will definitely be free late Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening.Anyone know if after the conclusion of swab summer, during CAP and before the start of Fall semester, do swabs get any time to possibly get together with parents?
