If I change out my physics class with a journalism class, how will admissions view this? My guidance counselor would send them an email notifying them of my change of schedule. I do not want to negatively impact my application, however, I serve on the journalism staff and want to stay in that class.

First and foremost academically, admissions wants to determine if you can excel in a STEM program.

If this is your first physics class, in my opinion it would be a bad idea not to take it, both from an admissions standpoint and preparation for USMA coursework.

IF this is a second physics class AND you demonstrated strong performance in the first physics class as wells as rigorous math classes AND you have strong math test scores, then taking journalism shouldn't be a problem. However, you may want to check with your RC before making that change.

It’s been stated here time and again to take the most challenging classes available, especially STEM.
