DD got nominated for a jr citizen of the year award, but we may not know if she gets it until late spring. Does anyone think we should let the academy know about the nomination at least? Then update if she finds out about it before it's too late? Appreciate any input!

When in doubt, put it on. Worst case scenario: she doesn't get any extra points for it. Best case scenario: she does get extra points for it.

I think you should let them know about the nomination. My son was selected to attend an international language festival, he could not attend b/c of school work, but we included his selection on the resume. In his case, getting nominated for consideration was not the "honor" but being selected to attend was. I assume a nomination for Jr Citizen of year is similiar to him being selected for the language fest, except hers is an amazing feat. The language fest was a bunch of high schoolers having fun touring German Christmas Markets and swimming in the hostel's pool every evening:)

I think nominations and selections are honors, after all you have been chosen out of a group of competitors, and that shows you stand out from the crowd. I was selected to be a presenter at a summit, I was very excited about the summit but it was too late to re-arrange my schedule and I couldn't go. But after doing some research I found out it is very acceptable to include an honor on your resume even if you were unable to attend the event.

Thanks!

DD is faxing and snail mailing the update today! You're right, TBS, it can't hurt. She'll just update again if she gets the award before appointments are closed.
