Good news - DS learned today he has a 4 year NROTC scholarship. The ROTC folks, via the accompanying paperwork, are stressing the importance of accepting ASAP.

DS understands that accepting preserves his options for Plan B. However, Plan A (USNA) is very much on his mind.

Q: Does accepting an NROTC scholarship in any way imperil his "Complete Pending Review" status with USNA? Oh, and to add to the drama, he got a Nom from our Sen last week.

Nope. Go ahead and accept it - he's free to decline later for any reason, including getting an appointment.

Agree with @Jcc123. Accept the NROTC 4 year ticket. You can later decline it if you receive the USNA appointment.

Congratulations!

Yep! Accept the NROTC scholarship within the timeline (30 days?) and wait on USNA. Congratulations on the scholarship and good luck on the appointment. The two processes are independent.

Tnorth. Thanks for asking the question. My DS is in the exact situation that yours is in and I was going to make the same inquiry but you beat me to the punch. Congratulations to your son. Cheers!

Oh how I love the forums. I was notified of receiving the NROTC scholarship today and was wondering the exact same thing that truenorth was. A quick check of the forums and I've got my answer:D
