Hello to all! My DS threw me a curve ball a couple of weeks ago and declared he no longer wanted to pursue flying in the Air Force. He is looking at a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and being a Developmental Engineer in the Air Force.

The commander at #1 & #2 college choice AFROTC units have stated that an Express Scholarship is available for electrical engineering.

Does anyone in the SAF community have any details about how the AFROTC Express Scholarship works, payback if the student changes majors, payback if major for express scholarship is not completed, amount awarded for the express scholarship, etc.?

Does anyone in the SAF community have any input on duty stations for AF Developmental Engineers?

Thank you for any feedback!

My kid is trying to get the Developmental Engineer Career path at USAFA. My understanding is Wright-Patterson in Dayton, OH is where he is mostly likely to be stationed if he gets it.

Good friend's son just graduated from USAFA in May and is headed to Purdue for a Master's in EE. I don't know if he's in the Developmental Engineer Career path, but it seems like he may be following that sort of path.

First assignment is back to school for a Masters at Purdue! That’s amazing!

My kid show me the grad school awards photo for the Aero Engineers each year, lots of good places for those near the top of the class.

Idk about the details of express scholarship or any of the documentation, but from the few EEs I've met on an EE scholarship, they've expressed that they can't change majors and that they basically have no prospects for a job except for Electrical Engineering (a subset/specialty of developmental engineering, 62E is the code for Developmental Engineer and 62EXE is the shred out code for electrical engineer). Again, none of this is based off of any facts or documents, just what I know from the word on the street. As for duty stations for developmental engineers, depends on the specialization. I'm attaching some documents I found on reddit (great place to search for some more info, just look up "62E bases" and plenty of good threads pop up). Also, to note, the base per shred out chart is 5 years out of date so it's probably not too accurate anymore, but it'll give a general idea.

Wouldn't let me attach two. Here's the second one
