AFROTC interview question

My dd received a call from a AFROTC detachment to schedule her interview. This is not a school to which she has applied and it is further away than one of the schools to which she has applied (and is her #1 choice in state). The school that has called to set up the interview is near a large AF Base - could that be why? I assume the interview will be conducted via Zoom, but would it be beneficial for her try to get her interview with the school to which she is applying? Does it matter?

It doesn't matter where your DD interviews. My DS interviewed with the closest unit geographically to us. He doesn't attend school there but earned a scholarship. He is friends with another AF scholarship winner as well. They both interviewed with this local detachment and neither attended. Their interviewer even gave my DS's friend advice in order to get a Type 1 or 2 scholarship for the private school he wanted to attend.

They probably try to even out the amount of interviews in a geographic area as well. Has no bearing where the interview is…just knock it out of the park!
