AFROTC- Max 4 FIELD TRAINING

Today is my DS's birthday and I sent him a text wishing him a happy birthday and telling him how proud of him I am. I know he won't get the text until he graduates at the end of the week, but just wanted to let him know I was thinking of him when he turns his phone on Friday. Surprisingly we got a second letter from him today when we checked the mail. Things seem to be going well but he said the heat in Mississippi seems 10x hotter than Maxwell. Highlights he spoke of is that his Flight started with 19 and as of TD 13, they are all still there. He said that his Flight won honor flight at Maxwell and made it to the finals in Ultimate Frisbe before losing 6-7. Just thought I would give the parents with children at Max 4 an update and hope things are going well for their children also. Can't wait to see him on Friday!

Thanks for the update! We had 2 letters from our son in the mailbox today to his younger brothers. They were very upbeat. He told them about eating MRE's, shooting paintball guns and getting yelled at a lot! Can't wait to see him!

Does anyone know what time the graduation/parade for Max 4 is? I assume the parade will be on Thursday since Friday is a travel day, correct?

Got this info from DS:
- Graduation will take place from approximately 0900-1200. The parade starts at 1000.
-- Max 4: 24 Jul
-- Max 5: 7 Aug

- Following the parade, cadets may spend limited time with their guests. They may not leave Camp Shelby during this time

-- During this time, they can get food at the trailers near the (very small) PX. Food options are limited

-- There is also a small lake with picnic tables if their family wanted to bring food from outside

- At 1200, cadets will return to their flights

Enjoy! Wish I was going

Thanks, that's what I needed. One more question for someone in the know, at what point do they get their cell phones back, after graduation on Thursday, or when they depart on Friday?

One more question that Capt can probably answer. MSFaygo posted from her info received from her DS that the cadets have to return to their flight at 1200 following graduation. What do the cadets do between 12 and leaving the next morning at 5 am besides the obvious of packing? Just asking out of curiosity.

After graduation there isn't anything imperative to get back to. Mainly just prepping to leave the next day and flight bonding.

Which cadets do you have here? What are their names? TD 21 just finished and they have parade tomorrow. I'm one of the CTAs. They might be in my flight :)

Graduation Parade

Any updates from anyone who was at the graduation parade today?

I was there. It was great...what details would you like to know?

Everything, lol! Did you get to eat with your DS and how much time did you get to spend with him? Were all the cadets up beat and ready to come home? Anything else you want to add about your day would be appreciated.

The cadets were all really happy! You can tell that they were all extremely proud if their accomplishments. After the parade everyone went to an auditorium to an awards ceremony. Each flight announced their distinguished and superior graduates and warrior cadets. The cadets did not know ahead of time who would be receiving awards so my son was pleasantly surprised when he got superior grad. Also, 2 flts for beat performances were announced. I think they were h and m. After the ceremony cadets were released to have lunch with their parents and we had about an hour and a half with them. Best 1 1/2 hours I've spent in a very long time. My son was full of funny stories and talked of all the great friendships he made. It was a great day!

Also, all cadets will be up at 4 am tomorrow and on the busses at 6am to go to the airport, no matter what time their flights are. The New Orleans airport is a little over 2 hours from Shelby.

Me too! I can't wait to see if he's gonna keep making his bed and picking up his dirty clothes :shake::yllol:

Wow! That sounds amazing. Soooo wish I could have been there to see my DS. Flight tickets were unfortunately over $1000!! Just curious what exactly is the Warrior cadet award, if anyone knows?
