AFROTC Scholarship Tier 1 upgrade

Good evening. I noticed on my son's Wings portal that his scholarship has gone from a Type 7 to a Type 1. I read that the scholarship may be upgraded if they are enrolled at an 'Approved HSSP Tier 1 Upgrade Institution'. My son is enrolled at Purdue and I do not see Purdue on the list. We are looking at paying out of state tuition so we are very excited to see this upgrade. Does he really have a type 1 scholarship now? His portal says under acceptance AFROTC Type 1 and then lists Purdue Engineering underneath. Thank you for any input.

From what I understand type 2 & 7's are gone. New HSSP has been gutted. Detachments now have the funds to make scholarships available to current cadets. The upgrades have become a moot point.

Same with my son. I noticed the upgrade and posted about it before he left for USAFA in June. Looks like an interesting shake up to the HSSP program.

Same here, great news! I received my upgrade last month. I begin Northeastern in the fall and that school is crazy expensive, so this was phenomenal news.

all 2s and 7s have been upgraded this year to type 1.
you should contact Purdue. My son is attending a school that would upgrade in the old process.
This is likely to make them more attractive as many have NROTC, AROTC and AFROTC scholarships to choose from.

Type 1 was really hard to get before. I think going forward all those slots for Type 1, 2 and 7, will change to Type 1 slots.

Now I'm wondering how does a current cadet on a Type 2 broach the topic with their commander?
