fingers crossed! My son said he is expecting to hear on Monday the results for field training. He also heard the selection rate was low. Good luck to them all!
My son said end of this month. But, they were told only to expect 30% of the class would be going. They also told them the pilot slots were decreasing. My son only wants to be a pilot and is unsure now if this is the direction he should take. Very worrying.Has anyone received information about field training for this summer? My DS says it's tied up in Congress.
Results have been released. Hopefully your son receives his soon and it's good news.Has anyone received information about field training for this summer? My DS says it's tied up in Congress.
I hope yours received good news. From what I understand, it would be like winning the lottery this year.My sons detachment made the announcements late this afternoon. After 5 pm. No numbers but It was definitely a very somber mood.
The EA selection was low for my cadet’s large detachment. Last year more than 90% got an EA. So now his scholarship may not be continued since he did not progress to the next level. His cadre commander is stating it’s due to the pandemic. What can we do?Has anyone received information about field training for this summer? My DS says it's tied up in Congress.
Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do. Non selected cadets on scholarship lose it but do not have to pay back anything. The EA selection was low for my cadet’s large detachment. It is a big deal for sure however these cadets need to understand there are always options. One door closes and another opens.Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do. Non selected cadets on scholarship lose it but do not have to pay back anything.
We just need to be supportive of our cadets and let them express their emotions. It’s a big deal. Some might not even be able to continue at their school due to finances.
I hope all detachments are offering other options. There’s a pretty active Reddit group for AFROTC that I hope many are a part of. There are lots of words of advice to the young ones.It is a big deal for sure however these cadets need to understand there are always options. One door closes and another opens.
FYI- the AROTC Commader at my sons school conveyed to the AFROTC Commader that he would be interested in speaking with any AF cadet who was not offered a spot. I don’t know for sure if a scholarship would be on the table but I do know that the Army offers a 2 year scholarship so I think it a good possibility.
Glad we don’t refund last year’s scholarship money. So going forward to junior year, does my DS have to repeat his AFROTC class/lab , become a AS500? I feel it unfair to lose scholarship not because of something wrong done but due to unforeseen pandemic. Can the cadets petition? Ask their cadre to at least fight for them?Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do. Non selected cadets on scholarship lose it but do not have to pay back anything.
From my understanding, if your cadet was invited to become an AS500, they would need to repeat their AS200 year. I do not believe they are guaranteed a field training slot in next years class, they would be competing against the other AS200's. Essentially being an AS500 extends their college experience by a year.Glad we don’t refund last year’s scholarship money.
