After my application says "The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application.", what are the next steps?

Hi everyone again I have another question that builds off my last post. My application has been on "The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application" since the portal was updated in the first week of January. What should I expect in the coming weeks concerning my application? Also, how will I receive notice of the decision of my application and or any updates on its status? Thanks in advance!

Same here, but since October. It sounds like if the status has not change concerning the Selection Status (No decision has been made on your application), it is not a bad thing (not great either) as you are still in the running. I am not clear on the “alternate” designation. Hopefully, last week’s NROTC results come out this week.

Due to a lot of travel involved, the brief for the most recent selection board will hopefully be later this week. Results might be out this week, but more likely next week.

In our case the NROTC portal still says No decision has been made on your application but kid did get an email 2 weeks ago from one of the Universities they applied to saying Congrats on being selected as an alternate. No email from NROTC. The NROTC portal has not changed and does not reflect the alternate status. Good luck!

Thank you so much sir for your helpful insight!

Thank you so much for your response! That's very interesting to think about, but I just got an email from my 5th choice school to an undisclosed amount of other recipients about saying if I had been accepted/deferred/rejected from their school and they just send a link to a book talking about NROTC life. Should I read into this and start thinking schools from my list are receiving my application?

To be honest I have no clue. As a parent I am now in chill mode waiting to be told about the emails if they come and I force myself not to read into anything anymore.

In the early days of SA, nom and ROTC applications I was at my kitchen window washing dishes, kid was home from school. A white prius pulls up outside the house with big black letters across the back hatch door (not a window decal) saying NAVY, an older gentleman sitting in the car with a pile of papers reading off something. Well I nearly fainted and I thought this is it!, something is happening!. So I ran off to make myself and house presentable in under a minute, didn't mention it to the kid so they could have a nice surprise. No knock on the door so I went back to the window and the car was gone!.
I found out later that my husband had sold an electronic something to someone on Next Door and he was coming to pick it up. The older gentleman was a Navy vet.

😂 I saw a car with a USNA license- took it as a sign and snapped a picture- now at time my son still hadn’t gotten a nomination, passed medical or finished NROTC scholarship but I snapped a picture- didn’t share with anyone- and called it a sign. Still waiting for appointment and scholarship and still have picture! Whatever helps us get through the the final stretch.
