AIM 2021

I received my acceptance at 17:00. With the vaccine mandate to attend, I won't be doing in-person. I'm considering the virtual one. Good luck to all of those who were waitlisted. There is a requirement that you are fully vaccinated two weeks prior to attending so if you want to attend and are given the opportunity, just know that. You might not have time for both doses and the two week advance after you are notified.

I'm getting my 2nd dose tomorrow, so that should not affect me at all. I hope I get off the waitlist!!!

Interesting wrinkle is that, in addition to having to be fully vaccinated at least 2 weeks before report date, candidates will also be given a rapid response test upon check-in and anyone that tests positive will be returned to the parent or guardian and will not be allowed to participate.

So a parent or guardian is required to accompany the AIMster to drop off, which adds a significant wrinkle logistically (and financially) for families that are not within driving distance of the Academy.

DD2 is excited to attend session 2 or 3 and I guess I will get a chance to see the Academy and New London in person.

But coming from the West Coast, it definitely adds to the overall cost of attendance.

We're from the West Coast too. Oldest daughter is graduating From West Point and it is really difficult for us West Coast families. We couldn't attend so many events because logistically and financially it was a lot. I have two other kids that want to attend an Academy so I'll be racking up some miles!

What do you mean you get your second dose tomorrow? Are they taking people off the waitlist starting tomorrow or will we all find out on June 7th?
I'm saying I'm getting my second vaccine dose tomorrow, so If I somehow get off the waitlist, the vaccine requirement, won't be an issue to me. We still going to find out on June 7th.

I was waitlisted too. I have good grades and SAT scores, as well as many extracurriculars and a captain for one of them. What can I do to improve my application? Any help would be great. Thanks!
I personally doubt it is because of those statistics. It may be because you applied late? (When did you apply?). I literally applied with 2 weeks left in the application, so I was either expecting a waitlist, or denial.

I applied right before the deadline. Would that matter?

I don't think applying the dates matter because I got in, and I submitted my application 1 day before the due date

Yes, I'm like 95% sure, because it was rolling admissions. So the early you apply, the earlier they would get to your application. So, I assume that the later you apply, the later they see your application. Therefore, like you and me @ACB1234, they probably got to our applications, by the time, they filled the actually list.

Ya I applied with 4 days remaining lol so that may play a part. I didn't even think about that

I don't think it was a rolling admission. rolling admission means that they bring release the acceptance as time goes even before the deadline. USGA released it all on one day, even extending their release date because they wanted to look over them most likely since a lot of candidate this year. Also I got accepted, so that would mean that even had spaces for if people applied late as well since I submitted mine one day before the deadline
