When my DS did aim 2 years ago, they were issued USCGA shirts and shorts.

They are this year too but it also says to bring extra shirts and shorts and I️ was curious if those would be ok. Did they have to bring extra then too?

Yes, those shorts should be fine. You will most likely where those for Cals (PT) in the morning and probably at night for bed (most don’t wear the pajamas they have you bring). The list simply says athletic shorts, which the shorts you describe are.

The CGA-issued gear is typically for the rest of the day while you’re in classes, at meals, and whatever non-workout activity is scheduled.

Are swim goggles allowed? They were not mentioned in the packing list.

Your DD can bring them, they're small and I doubt anyone would take them away. Things have certainly changed since I was an Aimster (2008) and AIM cadre (2013) but neither my Aimsters or I even needed the swimsuit. That being said, better to have the swimsuit and goggles and not need them then to miss them!

Your replies are always so helpful and insightful.
I have no doubt she will abide by the cadre and her fellow Aimsters.
Thank you.

for each day? The checklist said to bring like 10 pairs of shorts and shirts?

Make sure to read the AIM Handbook in its entirety if you have not already done so. The answer to your question is in the same section as the checklist. You will be issued 5 AIM shirts and 3 pairs shorts as @YW8808 mentioned, they are also correct in that you should bring 4 shirts and 3 pairs of athletic shorts.

You're very welcome @GirlGeek , always happy to help and I'm glad you've found it helpful!

Dumb question probably, but the AIM a packing list does not mention a pillow. Will pillows be provided? I know linens are the responsibility of the student to bring for AIM.

We'll call it a trust, but verify, question. ;) Yes, pillows will be provided. It's why CGA stipulates the size of pillowcase (and the sheets), which is so what you/your child brings fits what they provide.

The confusion on the number of shirts and shorts arises from two different lists provided, with mutually conflicting information. One is posted on the AIM webpage and the other is contained within the 2021 AIM handbook.

Either way, bringing a couple of extra shirts and pairs of shorts isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially since they can serve as hot-weather pajamas.

My son who attending in 2018...he said he didn't have ENOUGH because it was so muggy and stuff never seemed to dry in Chase.... Take extra towels!
