My son has completed all of the steps necessary for admissions into West Point. What a long road it has been!

He received his congressional nomination and has received his letter confirming he is fully qualified and that nomination letters will begin being sent in late February.

Now that we are on the last leg of this journey - the wait has GOT to be the worst of it! So to all who are in the same situation - congratulations to you and your families and best of luck!

Wait and Wait

I have a seat over here next to me. Have a seat, sit down and we can suffer together for the long wait till February. There're plenty seating available now but closer to February it will fill up fast and soon be standing room only.

You may get a letter stating your DS is 3Q'd. You will be notified if you are on NWL and QNS. The dreaded TWE. But now till February if your DS gets any more awards send them in to WP.

Good Luck !!

The type of nomination is critical. If you have a Principle nomination from your Congressman you are in a great position. If you DO NOT have a Principle nomination you are - in effect - competing for an offer of Admissions to West Point with hundreds of other people who are also 3Qd with a nomination.

Rough numbers that are a little different each year.
After all is said and done with the approximately 14,000 to 15,000 initial applicants, about 2,500 great candidates will be deemed fully qualified with a nomination. However, only about 1,200 of these will be selected go to West Point simply due to a limited number of slots. Therefore it is important that you get your Whole Candidate Score as high as possible. Report any accomplishments, awards, recognitions etc that might increase that score to West Point.

Good luck - my son who is in the Class of 2015 will be happy to see you next year.

Yep, the wait is really annoying considering the extended wait this year. Many people were receiving their appointment at this time!! Hang in there, the wait will be over soon!:thumb:
