I'm currently a sophomore in High School and my first semester is just about to finish. I wanted when I should first contact my ALO

Based on my experience with DD's application process, USAFA assigns ALO once the application reaches a certain point. There are 2 ALOs ( mentor ALO and interviewer ALO).

What's your objective to establish contact with ALO?

When I contacted USAFA Admissions about an ALO, they said that one will be assigned to you after your PCQ is complete and you are a candidate.

In that case, your best resource is the USAFA site (https://www.academyadmissions.com/). Summer Seminar application opens for you when you are in your junior year and the information from that application can become prelim info for your admissions application. Since you are a sophomore right now, you are starting at right time. Look at areas where you need to improve for your application ( academics, physical, leadership/EC) and start working on them right now if you chose to.

If you would like to speak to an Admissions Advisor, you can contact them at Region3@usafa.edu. They will be able to answer most of your questions as well as direct you towards the Admissions Advisor for your area!

Every high school has an ALO assigned to help students understand the Academy, how to apply, and any other aspect the student about which the student wants to know. There used to be a place on Academyadmissions.com where you could find your ALO but it isn't there any more. ALO's want to work with students as early as middle school to help them better prepare themselves. Contact your school guidance counselor and ask if he or she has the name of your school's ALO. Or go to https://www.academyadmissions.com/contact/ and send your info to the Academy. They will reply.

My advice would be to reach out as early as possible. The reality is you have TIME on your side to continue shaping your resume. The ALO can help provide guidance on the process and suggestions on what you can/should be working on at the moment. I enjoyed talking to students who were earlier in the process far more than those who were already a senior in High School.
