Dear Jordan: We have received all your application information and the Admissions Committee has qualified your file. West Point has eliminated rolling admissions for this cycle. As such, all qualified applicants are placed on a National Waiting List until appointments are made. Most appointments will be tendered between 26 February and 1 May 2017. You have demonstrated strong initiative and diligence in completing your file. Although qualified, you are still competing for admission and should continue to update your record with significant achievements in academic, leadership, and extracurricular and athletic activities. Do not forget to include standardized test scores or updated transcripts from your most recently completed academic semester. We will continue to add achievements to your file through the end of February 2017. Although most offers of admission will be tendered before 1 May 2017, final selection from the waiting list may be made only a few days before the class enters. Thank you for your continuing interest in West Point. Go Army!

Also it has the date as yesterday. I'm so confused. How does this work with a Principal Nom and does that mean no chance of BFE this first drop? The Nom has been in since mid december, medically qualified since right before Christmas and was always physically and academically qualified. Any guidance would be good as my mind is spinning like crazy.

Do you have a principal nom? If yes, then you should be receiving a BFE as all principal noms who meet all other minimums(and the information you shared indicates you have met all minimums) then you will receive an appointment. If you are not a principal nom, then you will compete at a national level with all others in your similar category and that is where you'd be on the NWL(National Waiting List). Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. My area was supposed to be 2 day shipping, didn't get it yesterday, then wake up today and just was the words "Wait List" so had a little freak out. Thanks for your input

Was that in your official correspondance? I don't have anything there, though my RC sent me an email a few weeks ago telling me I was 3Q'd. What admissions region are you in?

If you are just now getting this notification, I would expect you would be part of the next batch. This is what DD received a while back so that's what put her in the first wave of appointments. I have no idea when the next wave is scheduled. TBH, we had no idea about this wave until we saw it on the West Point Admissions FB Page Tuesday. We were hunkered down ready to wait until mid/late Feb. That's my advice, expect it late spring so you'll be surprised when you get it early. Congrats to you!

That is 3Q letter. DD got in her portal earlyTuesdaymorning and no MOC Noms from our area yet so she couldn't be wait listed. Everyone goes on NWL when fully qualified until slates are received and appointments given.

National Waiting List is different from being waitlisted. There are multiple thread about this.

This is a 3Q letter. It is a good sign. Not necessary to get an appointment but a good indicator.

Hang in there!

As a few others have said, the letter basically says that you have been deemed qualified and placed on the NWL. Unless you are a LOA holder, Principal Nominee, Blue Chip athlete, you are added to the NWL until all slates are resolved.

The application period does not close until the end of February so that is when the most slates are resolved and offers of appointment follow shortly after.

Then you should hear soon. There is no reason to delay since you have been deemed qualified by the admission's committee.

As of February 14 I also received this letter. What does this mean? Will I be in the second or third round of appointments?

Do you have a Principal Nom? If so, be patient, an appointment is coming. If not, you'll enter the national pool and will find out if you receive an appointment sometime between now and Apr 1, most likely.

This is a standard form letter informing you that you are qualified. It means that the admissions board has reviewed your file, probably yesterday or last Tuesday, and added the third Q, academics. It does not mean you will receive an appointment; it means you are qualified to receive an appointment. A misconception many have is that because their file has been complete for some time, it must have been reviewed by now. The order in which files are reviewed is a mystery to anyone viewing from outside the "black box".

You could receive an appointment tomorrow, next week, next month, or not at all. Every year there are many qualified candidates that do not receive appointments, formally called "Qualified Non-Select". For now, be patient and proud of reaching a milestone that many do not.
