Another 2028 application question...

I've looked around and wondered if anyone can clarify for me. Under recommendations it has 6 slots, a blank one, english, math, PE, EC official, and guidance counselor. My questions are, isn't the EC official also the guidance counselor? And can a physics teacher be the math recommender (I'm assuming not)? Is the blank one to send to another teacher of your choice?

My students typically designate the EC official to be your guidance counselor -- so yes. Your math teacher must taught you a "math" course -- so no. And, you may add other teachers (so yes), or other recommenders. I believe (to be confirmed) this is the location where you may add up to three others, like a coach, Scoutmaster, CAP commander, etc. for optional recommendations for USNA. Good luck!

Regarding the PE recommender, is this just for the CFA? I haven't taken a physical education course since the 10th grade, since my school only does 2 years of PE. I've completed my CFA at NASS, however (and am satisfied with those scores). Do I still need to send in information? Thanks!
 
USNA Admissions has a live chat session most business days. Click the chat widget on the Admissions page to see when the next one is scheduled.

Finding out answers from anonymous internet sources is often not the best path - go to primary sources for answers. Scour the usna.edu web pages, and if unsuccessful, contact Admissions. You can always contact your assigned Admissions officer if the chat is closed. June is usually the quietest and slowest month at USNA, with people taking leave, and then the ne class comes in, and all the cycles ramp up again.

It's just for the CFA; USNA does not have an evaluation for the PE teacher. Others have asked about CFA scores not being updated. DS submitted his app this past weekend and only his test scores are updated as being received (no personal statement; no extracurriculars are showing in the app review; his math teacher emailed today she submitted the evaluation, which doesn't even show as being sent to her). It's unclear if the portal is just slow to catch up or maybe not working properly (hopefully not). It was the weekend and a holiday. . .

Thank you so much! Can I just clarify, the additional recommenders fill out the same form? There is no one who writes an actual letter of recommendation?

Serious question- I never saw my son’s application and he never asked these questions - aren’t there good instructions that explain everything well?

Nope. This year's portal is really subpar, seriously. My second son to do this, and this has to be one of the worst portals to date.

Last year, USNA moved to a set of up to three optional recommendations through a portal. You add the name and email address, and then the request is sent to the individual to complete a questionnaire about you. I hope that helps.

be very patient - it takes a long time for things to be updated.....

Thank you for the clarification! I'll have to ask my admissions counselor if I should just leave it empty then...Yes same experience here; my CFA scores have not been uploaded and the only thing I have marked 'complete' are my test scores.

DS is now marked as 'Qualified' on his portal. Looks like it was updated last night maybe.
