I attended Summer Seminar and USNA is my first choice. I'm not a recruited athlete or anything like that. My application is submitted but not complete (waiting for some teachers to submit, etc). I just got an invite to CVW and I was wondering if this means anything at all positive or negative? Thank you in advance!

Nothing in regards to appointment. CVWs are a recruiting tool. Gives you a better insight into actual Plebe and Academy life. If you can, it is worth the visit to give you a better sense of whether this might be the path for you.

Thank you. So nothing at all to get excited about as far as being looked at favorably or anything like that?

One can never know for sure, but you can see by the recent posts that a lot of candidates are receiving CVW emails. There are lots of kid who get in who never did NASS or a CVW, and lots who don't get in who did one or both.

The fact that they extended something says that they are interested in you and want to show you what Mid life is like to see if you stay interested. It is very different than NASS and offers a whole other perspective.

No...likely that the invite went out to everyone that had completed a certain portion of their application.
Also, keep in mind that there is a finite capacity for CVW's-- and limited spaces will go to those that didn't attend NASS .

I submitted my application 2 weeks ago and the only thing I got was an invite to apply to Inspire.

I'm still learning about all of this but it sounds like the Inspire program is even better than CVW (all costs paid, etc?)

Okay, thank you for the information!

It is better if you are accepted into the program. I'd take an invite to a CVW over an invite to APPLY to Inspire but that's just me. I also don't live very far away from Annapolis anyways so I don't mind not having travel paid for.

It is a great program. And yes, expenses for travel are covered.

Apples and Oranges., while the basics elements are the same (ie. a weekend visit to the Yard), CVW's are essentially open to all Candidates (subject to space availability and scheduling), while INSPIRE is a targeted outreach program.

Idk about the certain portion thing...I've only submitted my ACT scores after getting an LOA to my number one...but I've gotten the invite to a CVW also.
