Any recent appointments received?

Our Son just got a call from the Coach, he's been offered an Appointment.

He received a conditional appointment mid March and jumped into action on the DoDMERB. Doctors and Admins were amazing, we finished everything in four days. The call today from the Coach made our Son's year.

Congratulations! Fast work on DODMERB part. Never heard it working that quickly.
 
Just curious. If you accept scholars and get a direct appt. offer, can you decline and go the scholars route? Besides the extra year of education/athletics, you accrue an enlisted salary and 1 year of vested pension service.

I doubt that you could, but even so your math doesn’t make sense. If you take the direct appointment you get an officer’s salary in that 5th year (much more than enlisted) and also accrue a year of service time towards a pension. I’m not sure what that extra year of education/athletics would do for you.
