AP Classes

Hello, I have been keeping up on this forum for the past few months throughout my application. If I ever had a question, it was always already here with great feedback. However I have one question that I have not been able to answer. Allow me to explain my situation.

Current Senior in high school, application nearly finished, good grades. Specifically I've never had a final grade in a class anything less than a B. However I have taken zero AP classes. Yet at the same time I have elected to take the most difficult courses below the AP level. (Example: Last year I elected to take Chemistry over the easier 'blow off' Earth Science class. And this year instead of filling my schedule with fluff classes, I took my electives in Advanced Chemistry and Physics.) So while I do not have classes with AP in their name, I am not taking it easy by any means.

On to my question. How much of a demerit will this have on my application?

Thanks in advance. You guys are the best source of knowledge for this kind of stuff. Also I encourage you: Be frank! And feel free to ask questions if I need to further clarify.

Fisk72 - One of the things the Academy, as well as all top colleges, look at is the quality of your high school and the rigor of the classes offered and taken. All As are not created equal. AP courses are college level and your performance in them is generally a good indicator of success in college - some would say a better indicator then SAT and ACT scores. So I would say that the absence of AP level courses hurts but isn't fatal. There may very well be other factors that help bring up your whole person score.

What is the highest level math will you have taken? What is your math SAT score?

I think the answer to those two things will go a long way to answering your question.

But the only thing anyone here can guaranty is that you won't get in if you don't apply. Best of luck.

My highest level math will be Pre-Calculus with Trigonometry. I took the ACT with a math score of 29. I plan on taking once more in
September.
