I want to know how far into my application I need to be for it to be reviewed and a decision made on my behalf. I have done everything except for my BGO interview (this week), nomination, college transcript and high school transcript (I mailed the official transcripts Friday). It also says I need to submit an official ACT or SAT score, which I have done and my score appears on my portal, but it isn’t checked off of my checklist. Thanks!

While your application may get some attention from your admissions officer before it is complete, don't expect to receive an appointment or rejection until the application, including your BGO interview, nomination(s), and every single thing is submitted. Why would you expect USNA to make a decision based on an incomplete application? If you are talking about review for purposes of a LOA, nobody on this forum will be in a position to answer the question in your specific situation. Good luck completing the application. And, buckle up, it can be a long road - some appointments are not made until after May 1st and even just days before I-Day. The fact that an application is completed early may not impact the timing of your answer/appointment all that much.

Why would you think Admissions will make a decision before you COMPLETE your application ? There is a reason for everything in the Application, and transcripts are important. Sure, every once in a while USNA may grant an LOA for someone that is a really good candidates, but for most there is a process. Complete Applications, Admissions Board Review , and if Admissions Board qualified (and you will not be told whether you are Q or not), your application will got to Noms and Appointments, a seperate office in Admissions that matches up Nominations (you don't mention whether you have a NOM) with Qualfied Applicants (typically, giving the Offer of Appointment to the Most qualified person in the particular Nomination Pool).

Bottom line, a lot goes on after you COMPLETE your application, and Candidates are not informed of status through the process. As a practical matter , while some find out earlier, most don't hear until Feb/March time period (if you are curious, check the past year Admissions threads and see the timing ..last year was kind of abnormal and later than normal).

My understanding is there would only be one "decision" before a complete application is submitted, and that would be for someone being offered a LOA. Which, while seen a lot on the forum here, are not that common of a thing overall.

Otherwise, the boards review and down-select potential people once everything is complete (to include your required nomination).

Similar situation with my DS last cycle. The BGO was real busy and informed DS that the interview will be conducted after Thanksgiving. Contact your BGO and explain your situation.

That was not my intent, sorry I misworded it. My question was, when do they consider my application “ready for review”. Is it after my BGO is complete will it be considered ready for review?

To Rephrase for anyone on this thread. I do not mean “ when will a decision be made” I mean, “how much do I have to have completed for my application to be ready for review”

In the majority of cases, the board does not review incomplete applications. In almost all cases (not 100%), the Admissions Board does not review applications unless its complete and a BGO interview was completed (it appears thats scheduled). Apparently there are rare exceptions. It's not a process that can be sped up, at least, not by the Candidate or BGO. Recommending contacting Admissions (chat session online) and asking if there are any missing items. Also tend to Plans B & C.

My son, who is at USNA now, had his application 100% complete (including medical qualification, excluding nomination) with respect to what he could control by the end of September. He was a strong candidate. He didn’t hear until end of March. A great lesson in patience for him.

They review it at any time. There is some that get an LOA before medical and nomination. So you may get one at any time, or not. Focus on the final prize!
