Application Essays?

I'm a rising junior (will become one this fall) and I am wondering how big of an impact the essays have on admissions.

Also, what are the questions that they (West Point) asks during the process? Are they the "why you want to attend" kind of questions?

If any current, will-be, or past West Pointers could give me an idea on the essays, I would be much obliged.
