Application Submission Issues

I just submitted my application for USNA. **If your application says it's 99% complete and you're positive you have entered everything, the act of submitting it will bring it up to 100% for those who are worried about that** Once I submitted it I reached 100% complete and was given a checklist of items that were not received by USNA: transcript from my high school, medical examination (I was just deemed medically qualified last week), recommendation from my math instructor, recommendation from my english instructor, recommendation from my counselor, verification of activities from my counselor, and official SAT and ACT scores. This was TERRIFYING to see. I knew that USNA was having issues receiving items on their end because of glitches in their new application system this year, which is why I had my instructors and counselor submit their information for me twice to be safe. Clearly that didn't work... I had sent my SAT and ACT scores to USNA in July and can't resend them without paying the score send fee again, and my medical status is up to DoDMERB/DoDMETS and USNA to communicate with each other that I'm qualified. I don't know what to do to have everything else be received! I sent an email to the Academy asking for advice but if anyone knows what I can do or try to remedy this issue, I'm all ears. And if anyone else has experienced or is experiencing the same issue, please let me know I'm not alone haha

You are not alone. Since late July my counselor has been waiting for the validation link. I was qualified by DoDMERB in late August, sent USNA my letter stating I was qualified (as backup), and it still isn't checked off. I will say in regards to the SAT and ACT scores: when I was a freshman, I made an SAT and ACT account to begin practicing for tests using my parent's email address...fast forward two years later (Junior year), I made my own email account for future college applications. Well, USNA couldn't find my SAT scores because my SAT scores were sent with my parent's email address on them (from the account made back in freshman year) and they weren't connecting with my personal email account. Does that make any sense? I'm surprised USNA wouldn't try and match something other than email addresses to connect SAT scores. My SAT scores are posted but not checked off. Lol. Funny not funny.

The *glitch* may be in their ability to adequately reflect items in the portals. Vs the *glitch* being that USNA hasn’t received them.

If you have emailed your admissions counselor, you have done what you can. Give a couple weeks...then follow up. Or, you could always call them.

My DS had a few issues also with submitted items not linking up in his portal. He emailed his admissions counselor about it and his counselor was able to find most of the items. DS tried to be very specific such as SAT was taken on ____ date and the scores were sent from the college board on ___date. DS also had issues with the sending of the emails to his evaluators and the evaluators not receiving them even in spam etc. You might try the USNA website. Go to Admissions and click on the contact us tab. You can check when the next live chat is or leave a question. DS has had success using the chat feature also. Some items seem to show up almost instantaneously and other items take a really long time to link up into the portal. Hang in there and keep working it.

The “required action items” box isn’t a checklist at all for us. It just looks like this (below). It’s never changed. Is this how it looks for everyone?
RECOMMENDATIONSENT TO EVALUATORRECEIVED BY USNA
ADDITONAL REQUIREMENTSRECEIVED BY USNA

Mine doesn't look like that--I asked my friends who are also applying for the first time what theirs look like and they reported it looks the same as mine. On my application portal there are two columns: the left column states my application is 100% complete and has been submitted, with the right column showing the checklist of received and not received items. USNA rolled out a new application system this year; my friends who applied last year still have last year's system and design which looks like the one you have in the picture.

@piranhica That’s interesting. The application was opened this year— in late July. For one day in September, we had a completely different look (still no check marks) but a different look to the page. The next day, it reverted back to the above. Of interest.. for ACT scores, several are lacking. Meaning... only two scores (Math and English) appear. It’s weird

Same, I have several items without check marks even though items have been submitted for over a month. I finally scheduled an appointment with my admissions counselor and she told me they are way behind and didn’t know when they will be current.

DS guidance counselor let her know she received the verification of extra circular actives today. So looks like its start to move along.

**UPDATE** my admissions counselor was extremely helpful!! They sent out new submission links to my teachers/counselor; their information finally went through this time and has been marked off as received. I was just informed that it will take a few more days/weeks for DoDMERB to communicate with USNA and have your medical examination status show as "received" on your application--same thing for SAT scores, I was advised to email my admissions counselor the date I took the ACT and SAT (ACT is available for them to receive, but SAT needs a bit more time to show up).

Make sure Admissions has the email address your SAT account is established with- meaning I created my SAT account in early 10th grade to do practice tests. I created my own email for my college applications. Anyway my SAT scores were sent under a different email than USNA has on file. It
Took detective work to connect my SAT scores
