Hello everyone. I was wondering, around what time of the year do cadet candidates at usmaps begin their nomination and application process for usma? Also, I had somebody tell me that the commandant at usmaps is able to provide a nomination for a cadet candidate to go to usma the next year if they are doing good in academics and pt tests. However, I also had someone tell me that the commandant at usmaps can't provide a nomination for a cadet candidate. Which is true? If the commandant at usmaps is able to provide a nomination, how many are they able to give out?

Your portal carries over with most of the requirements complete if you applied to USMA but ended up at the prep school. The CCs start the process of reapplying in the fall. They still are encouraged to apply for a congressional appointment, but yes, the commandant can give an appointment...you are technically on active duty as an E1 at USMAPS...also, they all take the SAT and ACT while at USMAPs. You do have to meet certain requirements academically and physically of course...hope this helps.

We begin the application process in the fall. The commandant is allowed to provide a nomination to Cadet Candidates as long as you meet the physical and academic requirements. You don't have to compete for the commandant's nomination just meet the requirements which isn't hard.
Hello, I’m not trying to be rude but are you absolutely sure about taking the SAT again?
Yes. CCs took the SAT in DEC and then the ACT in JAN. My son is current CC.
