When does the Official Application Open?
As far as I know you can start your file now for class of 2022.
If not at least you will be on mailing lists for admissions seminars etc in your region.
SAT scores and 6th semester transcripts are about all you can do now anyway; loads of confirming paperwork has to be sent from your school next September.
Most HS are out for summer already but if yours is not be sure to ask your counselor about transcript [ours was all done self serve online anyway.] Takes a couple weeks minimum for final grades to process and transcripts to be updated.
If you applied for SLE, you already have begun the application process.
The application process officially began March 1, though it doesn't really matter how late you start. Sooner is better however.
Thanks for the responses. I did attend SLE and enjoyed the experience. I have almost finished all of my USNA application and the USCGA will open in August, I believe. I just wasn't sure when I would be able to complete my USMA application. I am not trying to rush through, just plan the time needed to complete. I had several cadets tell me to try to complete before school starts, so you have time to focus on nominations and plan B.
West Point has two part application process. The first part is open to anyone, but the second part, also known as the second step kit, is open to competitive candidates only. In the past, SLE attendees were given early access to the second step kit. This year it looks like August time frame for the second step kit for everyone.
I went to SLE this past week and met with an admissions representative today. They both stated that the second step kit would be open to competitive candidates (they made it sound like everyone from SLE would get access) in early August but did not give a specific date.
I attended SLE last year and the second part of the application opened August 15th.
