Applying for LEAD while in tech school?

Hello everyone, I’m currently active duty and exploring my options on commissioning. I’ve been in now for 8 months and went through a complicated reclass and have just began a new tech school. I was curious to how and if anyone has heard of someone applying and getting accepted while in tech school. I contacted my ALO a few days ago and am waiting for replies back but just wanted to ask this one question here to see if anyone had some first hand knowledge on the matter. Thanks for any info!!

One of my good friends here got accepted while in tech school at DLI. I also have a doolie prior who was ANG and never even went to tech school.

Awesome info, thank you! Still waiting to hear back from my ALO. Do you know what steps your friends took to begin their process and how challenging it was for them to get their 1786 signed by their commander?

No idea what the steps are. But the general consensus seems to be that if you are a squared away airman, most commanders, especially academy grads, will be eager to send you here.

Is there a minimum number of years you have to be an airman to go for the LEAD program?

There is no TIS (time in service) requirement for the LEAD program.

I'm at DLI currently and am looking to apply to USAFA, do you happen to know what their process was like to get in while here? What I've been seeing is that it is unlikely to do so, but this is cool to see that someone actually did it.
